The Kairos Centre

The name Kairos is from the ancient Greek, meaning the necessary and appropriate timing of happening:
the soul’s time rather than Kronos or linear clock time.

The Kairos Centre was formed in 1992 to  provide sacred space for the development of Soul Centred Psychotherapy. The Soul Centred Psychotherapy™ training was developed by Dr Kaalii Cargill and Andrew Cargill in the early 1990s. Soul Centred Psychotherapy™ is a therapeutic approach that developed organically from their experience and research as practising psychotherapists. Working in the field for the past 25 years, they have had the opportunity to study, work with, and develop a wide range of therapeutic forms, and have come to value both personal approaches and those that attend to the totality of the human experience.

The Kairos vision
To sponsor the development of a soul centred therapeutic community base, through comprehensive, in-depth training that draws from clinical practice and current research. There is ongoing professional development and supervision for graduates.
Graduates are eligible for membership of the ASCP (Association of Soul Centred Psychotherapist inc.), a constituent member association of PACFA (Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia). Clinical and full members are listed on the the PACFA national register.

Dr Kaalii Cargill has been working in the field of psychotherapy for thirty five years, with qualifications in social work, psychology and clinical hypnotherapy. Her PhD was in the area of mindbody healing.

A particular area of interest involves the feminine mysteries of other traditions and the adaptation of initiation rituals to personal therapy. Her book ‘Don’t Take It Lying Down: Life According to the Goddess’ is available from Amazon.

The training course and mentoring program are a natural extension of her belief that therapy is not about fixing something that is supposedly broken, but rather about teaching people to attend to the rich language of soul.

Kaalii is past President of SCAPE (Society of Counselling and Psychotherapy Educators) and ISOCSS (International Society of Clinical and Counselling Supervisors), and past Vice-President of PACFA (Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia). As well as working in private practice for 40 years, she has also worked in training delivery as a social science tutor in the private school system and as a tutor in tertiary education.

Andrew Cargill [1951-2016] began exploring the human experience through Eastern spiritual practice in the 1970s and worked as a psychotherapist for 35 years. A recognition of the importance of embodiment in inner work led him away from spirit-based approaches to body-centred therapies. He recognised the centrality of the feminine principle in personal and collective healing, and especially sponsored the task of contemporary males in reconnecting with soul.  The approach of energy medicine to mindbody healing and resolution of trauma was an integral part of his work and is a core component of the training program.
